Sweetgrass Painted Blue Skye

Skye earned her Hall of Fame status with her first litter.

SKYE

After ASCA National Finals, Skye moved into semi-retirement in 2016.

I will continue to trial Skye as long as she enjoys working and is sound. So far she still enjoys it and is having a lot of fun. Cattle however will be something she will have to learn to do without. Before the Texas finals in 2014 Skye injured her shoulder, and we wouldn't want to chance her re-injuring it.

As good as Skye is on stock, she is quite possibly a better producer. She earned HOF Dam status with her first litter, Colt, iDog, Renn and Oakley. Oakley, WTCH X Sliding S Land's End Sure Shot PATDcs AFTDsc is ASCA's new Supreme Champion Stockdog, Oakley was handled by Owner / Handler Sherry Baker who also handled 2 other Supreme Champions.

Last one, 21 years prior to Oakley was Twin Oaks Kit Carson, Oakley's Great, Great, Grandsire. You can find Twin Oaks Kit Carson in all of our dogs pedigrees as well as the other Twin Oaks Supreme Champion, The Bull of Twin Oaks.

Skye has won numerous High in Trial and High Combined awards. In addition to other Merit Awards Skye was the #1 Merit Award winner for Post Advanced Sheep for 2012-13 and #5 Post Advanced Cattle for 2015-16.

Skye is also the Dam of Sterling, owned by Melanie Zarchikoff of Superfly Aussies. Sterling won the High Combined Open Buckle in Albany, Oregon for the Pre-Trial and Nationals in the Open Classes. Winning 5 out of 6 classes and placing 2nd in the remaining class. Sterling was also the #7 Most Versatile Aussie. This was only Sterling's 3rd and 4th trial ever, competing at 2.5 years old. Sterling is out of our repeat breeding of Bart X Skye. Skye is also the Dam of our dogs here at Sliding S Colt and Sharpie.

In 2015, we took most of the year off from trialing and Skye was bred to Lil Roth Lee's WTCH Spinoffs Red Grit and had a singleton pup, Riddick. Riddick has begun training and shows tremendous promise. Her last litter she was bred to Winslide's Front Rider OTDcds OFTDs RTDs "Pard". This breeding produced 4 pups. They were quickly dubbed "The Final Four".

The reports I get on these pups make me feel so proud as a breeder. All four pups went to veteran Aussie owners and some great handlers too. These pups continue to amaze us, and their people!

When not trialing, Skye loves to lounge on the couch until there is work to be done, then she wants to be the one to do it. She has an incredible sense of group, a fairly strong eye, and is a calm worker.

Skye will bite heels, but prefers to bite heads as seen in many of her photos.
